Sheets of Upholstery Foam




One inch thick foam may be cut with scissors. Thicker foam may be cut with an electric carving (turkey) knife. The length and width of foam is usually cut one half to one inch larger than the slipcover. This makes for a nice looking cushion and makes the foam slightly more firm than it would be without a slipcover. So, if the finished size of the cushion is 24 x 24 x 4, then the foam would be cut to 25 x 25 x 4. If foam is being mounted to a board, it is usually cut to overhang the board by one half inch.
